The importance of company culture in this day and age is becoming more relevant than ever. Companies are starting to realize that when their employees enjoy what they do, the people they work with, and the environment they spend 8+ hours a day in; the productivity and success of the company as whole increases.
So, how does company culture actually motivate employees?
Studies show that there are six main reasons people work: play, purpose, potential, emotional pressure, economic pressure, and inertia.
Play, purpose and potential are good motives for working and increase performance. Emotional pressure, economic pressure and inertia decrease performance and are considered bad motives for work and decrease performance. Companies most famous for their culture tend to embrace the good motives while minimizing the bad ones.
A fantastic culture is not easy to build, but when it is achieved great things happen.
