What inspired you to start StickOutSocial?
I believe that small and midsized business owners need a dedicated, hands on approach to helping their businesses get relevant exposure online.

Have you always been interested in web design?
I have always looked at the internet as magical. I can still remember the days of the dial-up connection. When you finally connected, it was the greatest feeling in the world to me because I felt like I had access to infinite information. It was very liberating for me as a child.

Tell us about creating your first website.
I built a website way back in the day with my brother called “choice spots”, where people could upload photos of whenever they found a great parking spot in a busy parking lot. Yes, very obscure, but we had a lot of fun doing it!

What kind of problems do you enjoy solving?
In general, I like solving problems. The problems I enjoy solving the most are opportunity/entrepreneur-based.

What’s the best piece of advice you have received?
“The things you own, end up owning you.” -Tyler Durden, Fight Club

Although I have received many great pieces of advice over the years, this quote from Fight Club was the first statement that really ‘wowed’ me and set me on a path in life to question everything.

Who is your role model and why?
My mom is my role model. She was the first female neurosurgeon out of Mayo clinic residency. She also was a mother to 5 children, and fed us a hot breakfast and dinner every day of our lives. She showed me from an early age that ‘the norm’ is just an interpretation, and that each one of us the opportunity to define our future however which way we want, no matter what anyone says.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My dog.

Small joke there. In reality, I am very much a morning person. The real answer is ‘opportunity’. I genuinely am excited for what can happen in the day.

What is your latest favorite vegan recipe?
Great question! I just made a delicious vegan Sloppy Joe. I like it because it is very tasty, only requires one pot and 20 minutes of your time. All my latest recipes can be found at veganhans.wordpress.com in case you are interested!

What kind of person succeeds at StickOutSocial?
The few individuals who have realized that their actions impact their reality and all they need to do is execute on what they want in life. We are very good at identifying people who actually care about their careers and encourage them to pursue what they want to pursue as best as we possibly can.

Cats or dogs?
I’ve been a cat person for years, but now that I’m out in the ‘burbs, I love playing outside with my dog. I didn’t really answer the question, but that was on purpose!

iOS or Android?
Indifferent

What do you enjoy most about the team at StickOutSocial?
I enjoy everyone working together. I enjoy the team’s respect for one another. I’m not StickOutSocial; no one is. SOS is a representation of all of our work.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
Fishing, wood-working, meditating, and thinking through ideas

What’s something not many people know about you?
I orchestrated a jello wrestling party in high school that had about 200+ people in attendance. I hired the two biggest guys I could find at Gold’s Gym to be the bouncers and did a few other incredible things that night that I won’t share here (but you are more than welcome to ask me some time).
